Longevity says something about any business, particularly in the competitive sports betting industry. Formed in 1886, Ladbrokes carries this asset in spades. A lot has obviously changed since then, but the bookmaker remains internationally renowned, offering betting services to millions of customers to all corners of the globe.
Our Ladbrokes review will focus on the company’s current package, and compare it to market standards. We’ll provide a Ladbrokes opinion on each of the key components of the service, and rate each between 1-5, with 5 being the highest mark. The below table summarizes the score for each.
18+ New UK+IRE customers. Paypal and certain deposit types and bet types excluded. Min £5 bet within 14 days of account reg at min odds 1/2 = 4 x £5 free bets. Free bets valid for 7 days on sports, stake not returned, restrictions apply. T&Cs apply.
£20 free bet for new customers
The welcome bonus for new customers at the time of writing our Ladbrokes review offered a £20 free bet for new customers. The way it works is that a matched bet of 100% is offered for stakes between £5 and £20. The odds on the wager must be 1/2 or more across a variety of sports, while not all payment types qualify the customer for this particular bonus.GET THE BONUS >>
Other Ladbrokes promos
Accumulator insuranceA strong aspect of Ladbrokes’ bonus scheme is its five-leg ACCA assurance offering. Customers get a matched free bet up to £25 if one leg of their five-team or more accumulator loses. While the deal only applies to bets on selected football matches and leagues, our Ladbrokes review found that offering customers a second chance after a failed bet is more than competitive when ranked against other bookmakers.
While not necessarily a fixed bonus, Ladbrokes offers its customers an odds increase across its full spectrum of sporting markets. These odds are boosted daily and fluctuate constantly, requiring customers to keep their finger on the pulse in order to take full advantage.
If you want details on these bonuses and terms and conditions that aren’t listed in this Ladbrokes opinion article, you can get them through our detailed write-up of Ladbrokes bonuses.
In forming our Ladbrokes opinion, it was hard to find any negatives about the variety of sports and depth of markets in each to bet on. The A-Z offering provides betting options on all of the mainstream options, as well as some lesser known sports such as chess, snooker and speedway.
Non-sport markets are also available, such as politics, which Ladbrokes was the first to offer as a betting option in the 1960s.
For all the bonus points the betting markets earned in this Ladbrokes review, the lower odds and margins when compared to competitors were a drawback. Admittedly, these discrepancies were minor, however they were consistent.
Counting all markets while forming our Ladbrokes opinion, we noted that the average margin was 6.2%, slightly higher than the average margins in the industry. On the flip side, Ladbrokes does offer in-person bettors more favorable margins and odds than its competitors.
This Ladbrokes review also extended to the mobile betting app, which met all the key criteria. Available to both Android and iOS customers, as well as through a browser-based mobile platform, the mobile betting experience with Ladbrokes is comfortable, efficient and high performing. It is also laden with intuitive features not often found on many rivals’ apps, such as a mobile alerts service that updates customers on bets and markets. This was one of the most impressive aspects we encountered while researching this Ladbrokes opinion piece.Want more information on the mobile betting experience? Let’s start this part of our Ladbrokes review with the many positives of the bookmaker’s payment options: a wide variety of payment types for both deposits and withdrawals, minimal fees, and prompt and secure processing. Additionally, the list of payment types is large, and includes debit cards, bank transfer, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller and others.
Deposits come charge-free and credit the customer’s account immediately, except for bank transfers, which can take as long as five working days. There is nothing outstanding to report about the Ladbrokes withdrawal process, which on the whole aligns with market standards, yet is bettered by some of the company’s major rivals. Only bank transfers incur a withdrawal fee, on top of any bank charges that the customer incurs.
Customer service counts in the competitive online wagering market and this is certainly a message the team at Ladbrokes heeds. Regardless of the medium through which we got in touch during the Ladbrokes review, the service quality was first rate. For starters, getting in touch is easy.
A 24/7 customer service team can be consulted via telephone, email and live chat, while the large range of languages they speak is hugely impressive. From English and German to Greek, Swedish, Thai and more, this bookmaker speaks to its customers in 18 languages. That’s as good as it gets and helped sway our Ladbrokes opinion in the right direction.
A key component of our Ladbrokes review was the company’s live streaming service, which was impressive overall. While the amount of streamed football matches could be increased, the remainder of the package is nothing short of outstanding and includes cricket, snooker, darts, rugby, ice hockey, basketball, rugby and more. The in-play betting console that is displayed alongside the live stream is a also a strong feature, this review found.
Our Ladbrokes opinion is that the company deserves a 4-out-of-5 ranking overall. The majority of the products and services encountered during the Ladbrokes review was impressive, particularly key components such as betting markets, the mobile app and customer service. The in-play betting module also left a positive impression.
There was some downside that Ladbrokes should work on. Namely, short delays in processing of withdrawals and odds that need a boost to match key rivals. Limited live streaming of football was also a concern during the review, while the amount of bonus offers can should be increased by a company of Ladbrokes’ stature. All in all, however, the service is highly recommended.
